Thursday, December 13, 2012
This illustration courtesy of the National Guard Bureau depicts the first muster of Massachusetts Bay Colony militia. This event took place on December 13, 1636 and the Massachusetts General Court ordered the organization of the Colony's militia companies into three regiments: The North, South and East Regiments. Today, the 101st Engineer Regiment of the Massachusetts National Guard is the direct descendant of the East Regiment.
