There are many things one can say about the Star Spangled Banner.  It is a stone b***h to play on the trumpet, at least it was when I was in high school, because of some of the jumps.  It regularly leaves performers licking their wounds as it does test them.  Especially if they are foolish enough to try to personalize it.  Like Jim at Parkway Rest Stop, I usually don't like those who try because of what they do to the song, and it does to them. 

I do think it is a proper way to start a major event, and the day. 

I also have to agree with Jim that this this version by Madison Rising is the best non-traditional version I have ever heard.  It is good, and is well worth the listen. 

Go help them hit one million views before election day.
