MaryAnn of SA Germany made us aware of this article in USAToday about how our combat medical personnel handle wounded troops with high explosives still inside of them (and sometimes awaiting EOD to remove them safely).
"I took his hand. Held it in mine. And said… 'I promise you I won't leave you until that thing is out of your leg,' " Lt. Cmdr. Gennari recalls.
