The perception of Obama as a gutless, passive, spineless, politically-motivated, chicken beta male has been catching on even in the NY Times. But there are still plenty of folks who are trying to help him portray his indecisiveness as caution or pragmatism. It is simply comical though to watch the Times' own house conservative David Brooks try to justify the pitiful hero worship he had for Obama with the reality of the man's non-performance. Brooks a while back, still fully smitten.
“I don’t want to sound like I’m bragging,” Brooks recently told me, “but usually when I talk to senators, while they may know a policy area better than me, they generally don’t know political philosophy better than me. I got the sense he knew both better than me.”...
“I remember distinctly an image of--we were sitting on his couches, and I was looking at his pant leg and his perfectly creased pant,” Brooks says, “and I’m thinking, a) he’s going to be president and b) he’ll be a very good president.”
This man writes for what is supposed to be the planet's most serious newspaper of record. Wipe your mouth David. But the intervening years have shown the Obama to be an empty suit and Brooks is scrambling to redeem him. This is just comical though.
Today, most Americans seem to think their country is seriously off course. They may have less tolerance for a president who leads cautiously from the back.
"leads cautiously from the back", You have got to be s****ing me!
It should have been obvious to anyone who has ever hired for a leadership position.I did executive search for a number of years and hired a couple of people who ran multi-billion lines of business for a major defense contractor. You can look at the type of positions a person has worked in and what they did while in those positions and see trends. Obama is one long trend line of seeking out jobs with high prestige, but then not accomplishing anything once he ascended to the lofty position.
Harvard Law Review Editor- wrote a grand total of zero articles
Community Organizer- only community he organized now condemned for asbestos
Law Prof at U of Chicago- maintains his grand total of zero scholarly works
Illinois State Senate- Noted mostly for the large number of "Present" votes
US Senate- No legislation, and spectacularly wrong on every statement he made about the Iraq War. Spent most of his term running for President.
President of the United States- Outsourced stimulus to Congress, even outsourced ObamaCare to Congress. Has managed to vote present when Iranians, Tunisians, Egyptians, Libyans and pretty much everyone else was yearning to be free.
The only two accomplishments anyone can come up with for the guy are his books, which are both about the only topic he can maintain an interest in...himself. I assume he is probably hard at work on his third and I would offer "Asleep at the switch" or "Golfing while the world burns" as possible titles, or he could simply go with "Leading from the rear".
Update from Blackfive: Busting in here because I've received so many hatemails about this article of Jimbo's. Gotta say, Jimbo did leave out some real accomplishments so I'll post the evidence below.
