Department of Mis-direction- Let's destroy the CIA

Step away from the healthcare quagmire and let's go back to those golden days of yesteryear when we were all focused on the Bush crime family.

It is a tough job to be involved in any aspect of counter-terrorism when a large chunk of the "thought leaders" (self-appointed I might add) are completely opposed to anything that might help you actually fight terror. They can't profile racially, religiously, or by country of origin, although it is painfully obvious we could identify terrorists by doing so. They can't build a secure prison outside the US for the evil bastards we catch and need to lock up until their dreams of jihad and caliphate fade as they return to room temperature. They can't be even slightly mean, less mean even than how we train our own troops, to people who could help us find their buddies still plotting to stick it to us. And worst of all They can't even trust that political pandering will not result in their being frog-marched in irons to distract from the serial debacles of a stimulus that only paid off lefty causes, a government takeover of the auto industry paying off the unions, a mind-blowingingly foolish attempt to tax all of us on energy during a recession to make Al Gore and the global warming chumps feel better, and the icing on the cake of socialized medicine.

Our CIA interrogators need to know that if they play by the rules, even with their toes dangling, they will not be hung out to dry. The Justice Department is now looking to re-open cases that have been looked at and when necessary actions were taken. But now that the kindler and gentler crew ( a joke for any team with Emanuel and Chicago dealing Chicago Way beatdowns) has swept into town, they need to show that they will stand up for at least some pet cause of their left. They have given them too many heartbreaks, but now they are back to that wellspring of hatred that is W & Cheney torturing their way around the world.

When the C.I.A. first referred its inspector general’s findings to prosecutors, they decided that none of the cases merited prosecution. But Mr. Holder’s associates say that when he took office and saw the allegations, which included the deaths of people in custody and other cases of physical or mental torment, he began to reconsider.

So these cases have been looked at by the professionals tasked with doing so, but now that more delicate sensibilities are in play ( well and a huge need to change the topic) these folks will get to play sacrificial lambs. Shameful and sadly right out of the Chicago Way playbook. We really ought to out Axelrod, Emanuel and the coterie of Chicago kneecappers they run with in charge of interrogating prisoners. Hey maybe that is what this is.

Obama signed off late last week on the unit, named the High-Value Detainee Interrogation Group, or HIG. Made up of experts from several intelligence and law enforcement agencies, the interrogation unit will be housed at the FBI but will be overseen by the National Security Council -- shifting the center of gravity away from the CIA and giving the White House direct oversight.
