Long Island Girl sends:

The Wounded Warrior Project's Soldier Ride will be in NYC and on Long Island 7/22-7/25/09. All info is at my site or directly at
Matthew Modine and Dan Ackroyd will be at the events, but more importantly, 29 wounded service members wil be bicycling to raise funds and community awareness for the Wounded Warrior Project's programs. We want as many people as possible cheering them on along the routes.
Nick at Ranger Up is just one of the people to donate items for the raffle, and the Hamptons fundraiser event has already raised over $44,000! It's going to be huge! The Hamptons event is dedicated to LCpl Jordan Haerter of Sag Harbor. Jordan was posthumously awarded the Navy Cross in February. Over 30 of LCpl Haerter's buddies from the 1st Battalion, 9th Marines at Camp Lejeune will be bicycling with the wounded warriors in Jordan's honor on Saturday, July 25th.
The Hamptons Ride is also in memory of other local heroes including USN SEAL Lt Michael P. Murphy of Patchogue NY, among others. My team is participating in Murph's memory and his dad donated and gave me permission to post his info again.

Lester from Marshall, a place near and dear, sends a reminder about the Segways for Vets group.

The Secretary of the Army's Public Service Award was presented to DRAFT's founders  for distinguished public service in providing outstanding support to our nation's Veterans  through the Segs4Vets Program.  Segs4Vets has awarded more than 250 Segways to Veterans who were severely injured while serving our nation in Operations Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom.
