Yet Another Mayor Tells Marines to Get Out!
McCain & Reality not hip enough

Berserkeley Versus the US Marines (and all their supporters)--UPDATE

Ramadimike2I was attempting to get some things military done this weekend, so in the interest of not wasting tax dollars, I have been behind and not focused on the Berkeley situation.

Let me correct my error...

It seems that while I was out preparing for war (while not doing anything to break my leg, again) the Marines in Berserkeley, as well as some of the supporters of the US Marines, may have gained the upper hand in their war against the libtards without jobs who want these fine warriors to stop defending their rights...

"We're starting to get people coming in from all over the U.S.," said Catherine Moy, executive director of Move America Forward, one of several pro-military groups planning an all-day protest Tuesday at Maudelle Shirek City Hall. "People are pretty upset. We want to avoid clashes, but it could be really, really big. We don't really know what's going to happen."

City officials were deluged with hundreds of irate e-mails, some containing death threats. Moy said her group got so many e-mails its Web site crashed.

OK, I am not accusing anyone here, but I want to make clear that death threats are not cool.  Call them names, impugn their mother's origins, place a hex on them in Swahili; I don't care, but death threats are not cool and can draw heat that you don't want, so let's keep it above board.

This is supposed to be what is meant by "grass-roots" activism.

I do want to point out before The Jump that the asshats from Code Pink really have no clue, I mean no clue at all...

"We want to protect our city from the onslaught of the right wing," said Code Pink spokeswoman Zanne Joi. "We're facing people who are willing to kill or send other people's children to kill to get what they want. We understand the reality of that, and we're prepared to face that in a nonviolent way."

If that was the case, The Marines and their supporters would have already kicked the shi...., well, I will just take my own advice....

Still, some residents are pretty hacked off...

"I am absolutely incensed," said Cheryl Tolman, a 12-year Berkeley resident. "It's outrageous that the City Council is trying to close the Marines office down and let these total radicals protest there. This is supposed to be the city of free speech."

I will close with a related item that you will need to be sitting down and taking your blood pressure medication to view.  I really have no faith that the Berkeley Police Department will actually do anything to actually defend my civil rights, or anyone else's for that matter.

The Berkeley City Council meets at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Maudelle Shirek City Hall, 2134 Martin Luther King Jr. Way, Berkeley. Move America Forward has it at the top of their web page with details and the Marines issue will be discussed at 9 p.m. See the agenda at links.sfgate.com

Thanks to everyone for participating and please e-mail the Senators sponsoring the Semper Fi Act and do what you can to show your support for our Marines.
