ALGIERS, Algeria (AP) — Two convicted terrorists who had been freed in an amnesty carried out the suicide bombings at U.N. and government buildings that killed 37 people, an Algerian security official has said.
Rescuers in the shaken city Thursday were still extracting the living and the dead from the crumpled remains of U.N. offices in Algiers that were bombed by al-Qaeda’s self-styled North African affiliate.
Victims caught in Tuesday’s twin truck bombings, which happened 10 minutes apart, included U.N. staff from around the world, police officers and law students.
Congratulations, and the sad thing is to think about what will happen if we get a Democrat President. I can't think of a single Dem candidate who could reliably be counted on to keep our sworn enemies locked up. Hillary is the best bet and part of that is that the jihadis are all men and she hates men. I trust that more than her national security savvy. She would return us to poll-driven foreign policy so you can't be certain about any position she holds beyond man-hating.
I consider our lack of tribunals and convictions for those we hold to be a major failure of the Bush administration. It is wrong to hold people indefinitely in a war with no end foreseeable in the next 25, 50 100 years. There was an opportunity to codify what we do with people who have sworn to spend their lives killing innnocents to please their god. Congress passed legislation right before Republicans lost Congress designed to respond to the Supreme Court's rulings about detainees. So, WTF? How come no tribunals until just recently? This gives ammo to the left in it's efforts to emasculate our anti-terror efforts, and leaves the issue for the next President. It is hardly inconceivable that any Dem elected would have to appease the nutroots about this. Well done, Well done.
