A Bigger Dumbass Than Arkin

Note to former Captain Kevin O'Meara over at the Kossack's place: We don't fight for money, Mr. Mensa Candidate. Or at least those of us not on the extreme far left don't.
Kevin, our military fights for your right to be an asshole. I, for one, am glad that you are exercising that right (and exceptionally well, too, I might add!).
And Sacre Bleu! When we were in the 3rd ID together, as a 'mercenary', you were even exercising that right that you gave yourself! Ah, sweet, sweet irony...
We don't take orders from the citizens (that's called 'mob rule' - write that down). And by the way, Markos (an artilleryman) once uttered these words way back when he was a mercenary soldier:
I, _____, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God.
I took that enlistment oath over twenty years ago.
Then, in 1989, I took this one (so did you, Kevin):
I, _____ , having been appointed an officer in the Army of the United States, as indicated above in the grade of _____ do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign or domestic, that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservations or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office upon which I am about to enter; So help me God.
Did you actually have mental reservations about your oathes?
I really wonder what the men and women that served in your command would think that you consider them mercenaries. You and Kos should know better than most people that some of our soldiers survive below the poverty level. Do you REALLY believe that Corporal Snuffy is a merc?!
So, why the attack as mercenaries?
Because you are a political mercenary, that's why.
Sell out.
[Note 1: For the record, William Arkin can say or write whatever he wants. I just think that it's absolutely ridiculous that he is the Military Affairs columnist for the WashPo and NBC News when he continually demonstrates a lack of understanding about, well, THE MILITARY! Maybe the WashPo could move him over to the Communism Affairs column?]
[Note 2: Imagine that this is one big middle finger from the 2nd Brigade to you.]
Update: Kevin O'Meara responds from his own blog.
I guess Blackfive has got the troops out once again for anyone who may disagree with them. No need to really argue with them as his post has shown just what type of people he leads. They are not all like this but since he is the professed "leader of the pack", I think it is instructive to see just how he leads.
I guess no one is allowed to disagree with Kevin or Monseignor Arkin? Seriously, because we're not Kos-sacks we don't get to have an opinion? Absolute moral authority must only belong to Cindy Sheehan and the far far left. Nice try on the marginalization, too.
My approach does speak less of me than my readers or other milblogs with more class like Mudville or Dadmanly. I know I'm wrestling with a greased pig - he loves it and I just get dirty. It's just that, sometimes, especially when I feel the influence of the stripes more than the oak leaf, you just gotta call a douchebag, well, a douchebag.
How's that for instructive, douchebag?
