We have an index of posts about things that YOU can do to help. If you are looking for a charity to donate to, we have provided some of our favorite Soldier support charities listed below.
Each of the Authors on Blackfive have their own favorite charities. However, one has been there for us and our brothers and sisters each and every time we needed help. Each. And. Every. Time.
Soldiers' Angels is Blackfive's favorite Soldier Support Charity:

Soldiers' Angels is an all volunteer, 501(c)(3) non-profit organization founded by Patti Patton-Bader, mother of Sgt. Brandon Varn, who recently returned home from a years deployment to Iraq. Soldiers' Angels is a national organization with members in all fifty states and Puerto Rico, and several friendly countries who support our brave men and women in uniform as they carry out their mission. Soldiers' Angels was was incorporated in the state of Nevada in June of 2003. Soldiers' Angels mission is to provide aide and comfort to the men and women of the United States Army, Marines, Navy, Air Force and the Coast Guard and their amazing families. The slogan describes the motivation behind Soldiers' Angels. By working together and sharing a common vision of service, the volunteers of Soldiers' Angels send care to deployed soldiers and their loved ones at home.
To date our volunteers have sent tens of thousands of care packages and hundreds of thousands of letters to our deployed heroes; we have helped those who have been wounded with our First Response Packs directly at the Combat and Support Hospitals (CASH) and at the major hospital in Germany, as well as providing care and comfort to those who are now in our military hospitals here at home; we have provided aid to military families in need; we have provided flights to soldiers on leave or in emergency situations and to their families to be with their loved ones upon return from Iraq and Afghanistan; we have provided level III KEVLAR Armor blankets to provide our heroes with some protection in their vehicles when it was needed; we help to honor the families whose loved ones have paid the ultimate price for our freedom and safety. This and much, much more has been accomplished by the many volunteers of this organization with the assistance of our generous supporters on behalf of the grateful citizens of the United States of America.
Fisher House is another amazing organization:

The Fisher House™ program is a unique private-public partnership that supports America's military in their time of need. The program recognizes the special sacrifices of our men and women in uniform and the hardships of military service by meeting a humanitarian need beyond that normally provided by the Departments of Defense and Veterans Affairs.
Because members of the military and their families are stationed worldwide and must often travel great distances for specialized medical care, Fisher House™ Foundation donates "comfort homes," built on the grounds of major military and VA medical centers. These homes enable family members to be close to a loved one at the most stressful times - during the hospitalization for an unexpected illness, disease, or injury.
There is at least one Fisher House™ at every major military medical center to assist families in need and to ensure that they are provided with the comforts of home in a supportive environment. Annually, the Fisher House™ program serves more than 8,500 families, and have made available more than two million days of lodging to family members since the program originated in 1990. Based on a comparison of fees at a Fisher House™ (the average charge is less than $10 per family per day, with many locations offering rooms at no cost) with commercial lodging facilities in the same area, it is estimated that families have saved more than $60 million by staying at a Fisher House™ since the program began.
In addition to constructing new houses, Fisher House™ Foundation continues to support existing Fisher Houses™ and help individual military families in need. Families and friends of patients at any of the military's hospitals can now receive up-to-the-minute reports on a loved one by going to the patient's own customized web page, thanks to new services provided through CaringBridge. We are also proud to administer and sponsor Scholarships for Military Children, the Hero Miles program, and co-sponsor the Newman's Own Award.
For helping wounded Marines and their familes, the Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund can't be beat:

Since September 11, 2001, United States Marines have been on the front line of the War on Terror. Their bravery and dedication have had a price. Many have been wounded, some seriously, and some resulting in lifelong disabilities.
Because of medical advances, Marines are now surviving
injuries that were not survivable in past wars. They face extended
hospital stays and months if not years of recovery and rehabilitation.
Few
families are prepared to deal with the personal and financial
disruption associated with leaving their home, their family, and their
job to be with their loved one through long months of hospitalization,
rehabilitation and recuperation.
The Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund provides financial assistance to:
- Marines injured in combat and in training
- Other service members injured while in direct support of Marine units
- Their families.
This assistance is in the form of a grant with no expectation of repayment. Grants may help with immediate financial needs such as travel, childcare, lodging or problems resulting from lost wages. Assistance is also given for long term needs such as modified homes and vans.
Spirit of America is an organization that spreads goodwill from America:
Spirit of America's mission is to extend the goodwill of the
American people to assist those advancing freedom, democracy and peace
abroad. We provide support to those on the front lines: American
military and civilian personnel and people who call to Americans for
help in their struggle for freedom and democracy.
Our objectives include:
- Increase the reach, scale and impact of the informal humanitarian activities that take place on the front lines in troubled regions.
- Contribute
charitable goods that can have a positive, practical and timely impact
in the local communities where American personnel are involved. - Establish
connections and strengthen bonds between the American people and those
in countries struggling for freedom and democracy.
Spirit
of America is a 501c3 nonprofit supported solely through private-sector
contributions. Our Federal Tax ID number is 20-1687786. Donations to
Spirit of America and the projects we feature are tax deductible.
Some
of our supporters see Spirit of America as a way to help people who
have suffered from repression, terrorism and war. Others see us as a
way to support our troops by helping them succeed with their mission.
And others see Spirit of America as a way to help win the war on terror
and advance freedom, democracy and peace. We are all of those things.
AnySoldier.com is a great way to get involved and send troops messages and packages to let them know that you care!
