November 8th, 1965
In remembrance of our brothers who served with the 173rd Airborne Brigade on Operation Hump, November 8th, 1965
On the 8th of November 1965, a company of the 173rd Airborne Brigade took part in what is known as Operation Hump. Due to lack of intelligence they were dropped smack into enemy territory and were ambushed by 1200 NVA and VC Troops. 200 paratroopers faced this overwhelming force and stood their ground.
The fighting lasted for over 48 hours. Both sides suffered heavy losses with 48 paratroopers killed and numerous others wounded. Viet Cong and NVA losses included 403 dead and an unknown number of wounded.
Please take a second and raise a glass to their valor today.
Airborne All The Way.
