A dead tango dance
I have been waiting for some confirmation and Roggio now posts this. In a clear case of extra-judicial assassination good targeting it appears that the Taliban's head in Pakistan may now be without his.
‘I confirm that Baitullah Mehsud and his wife died in the American missile attack in South Waziristan,’ Kafayatullah told the Associated Press late last night.
Baitullah was reportedly buried near the village of Nardusai. "Some who had reportedly seen his body said that it had been half-destroyed by the blast.
Well that gives me a warm fuzzy. This guy was responsible for the death of Benazir Bhutto and any number of other bits of nastiness. Plus it validates what has been our most effective tactic against the extremists hiding where they have hoped we can't reach them in Pakistan. Over the past several years scores of Talib and AQ bad guys have been introduced to the fun of remotely-llaunched, precision-strike weaponry. The usual issue of collateral damage is a problem, but most of the strikes take place in areas where the extremists actually rule and so there is little chance of winning any hearts and minds. I suppose it would be wrong to point out that perhaps splattering the hearts and minds across the countryside could be instructive, if there was instruction to be done.. I should avoid that as it could invalidate my well-earned reputation as a pacifist.
