059 Shelle Michaels from Blog World Expo sent us the note that Sgt. Christopher P. Abeyta was Killed in Action in Afghanistan.  He and two other soldiers, Sgt. Robert M. Weinger and Spc. Norman Cain III, were also killed when the vehicle they were riding in was struck by an IED on March 15th.  Christopher survived long enough to be medevaced, but later succumbed to his wounds at Bagram.

Sergeant Abeyta maintained a blog called The Chronicle of Butters!

Well here I am. I'm now about two weeks into the my deployment to Afghanistan and morale is pretty good at the moment. I feel that I am growing as a leader, now that I am in the position where I can grow. I have to say that my focus is great. Once I dealt with the burden of saying goodbye to all my loved ones everything has fell into place. I grow more and more confident as each day passes.

The Abeyta family is requesting donations made, not to Christopher, but to the family of Specialist Cain who leaves behind a wife and two children.

Donations in honor of Sgt. Christopher Abeyta to benefit the Cain family can be sent in c/o:

American Legion Post 691
