Dream Ticket: In Answer To A Challenge
One result of most major elections is the old saw of "So you don't like who won, well, who would you rather have?" That's come up again, so here is the start of my dream ticket for the next election, mostly in jest but with more than a bit of seriousness. I will add to it as I have time today...
President: Tom Kratman
Realist, pragmatic, decidedly anti-PC and with foreign experience including surviving time in DoD Transnazi central. Likely to leave well enough alone, get rid of things that don't leave well enough alone, small government supporter, legal background, and not likely to take much off of anyone. Enemies of the U.S.? What enemies... Doesn't want the job, which actually makes him a good candidate.
VP: Fill in later
White House Chief of Staff: Maj. Pain
Things would run like a watch; yet, the staff is guaranteed to be flexible and good enough to rapidly and correctly respond to changes and the flat-out unexpected. The major would also be able to ensure that the President was unable to successfully run-away and/or escape.
SecDef: John Ringo
Need I say more?
SecState: David Weber
Has the intellect to handle the job, understands diplomacy and bureaucracy, and just likely ruthless enough to conspire with the SecDef to have a KEV drop in on the lace panty brigade at Foggy Bottom if it is the only way to clean up said institution. Has the intellectual chops to complement the NSA pick and would be a good with SecDef as well.
NSA: Grim
Face it, he is the smartest man here and could do the job well even in his sleep. Out think, out fight, out last. Pretty much sums it up, and another reason we would be able to say "Enemies of the U.S.? What enemies... "
AG: Glenn Harlan Reynolds
Strong law background, believes in the Constitution, and having someone with small-L libertarian sensibilities would be a good thing. Want him even if he won't link to us anymore...
White House Press Secretary: Uncle Jimbo
What, you expect me to say anyone else after all the auditions he's done for the job? Besides, we might could make enough off the video of whatever-it-is that passes for brains in Helen Thomas (and a few others) exploding out her ears at the first press conference to wipe out the national debt.
Treasury: Blackfive
Yes, he probably would be out on a long bender, but the economy would rebound without all the medlling, no bailouts, and he really does have a good head for finance and business.
