A plan for an Afghan Surge
The Small Wars Journal has an excellent piece about what type of a Surge could be successful in Afghanistan. It seems logical and within the realm of the possible. I did notice a giant omission that is hard to understand. Nowhere in the document is the word opium used. That is like planning an Israeli-Palestinian peace and ignoring Jerusalem. But it is still a good primer on what is possible.
