The Greatest Political Speech of a Generation
No disrespect intended to Governor Palin, in whose service I would gladly stand, though she spoke tonight; and none to any other who speaks this year. Yet somehow, this year, no one hits the notes that matter most to our Republic.
This is the matter to remember as we proceed forward. The contest to which this speech applied is over: but the principles that lay under this speech are the ones that should move us in this year's choice as well.
My own sense is that this man, this Marine, spoke rightly not for an election but for a generation. As we wind up this year's convention speeches, take a moment to listen again to what he had to say.
