God Speed Track Palin

Just another mother wishing her son well...

Ok, Ok....  Maybe not just any other mother....

Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin switched roles Thursday, shifting from Republican candidate for vice president to an anxious mom sending her son off to war in Iraq.

Her eldest son, Spc. Track Palin, is being deployed with 4,000 soldiers of the 1st Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division. The 19-year-old will provide security for his brigade’s top officers, an assignment that is expected to take the unit to Diyala.

Now, I don't know his MOS, but my guess is either an MP (part of our METL to do this mission) or, when his 1SG found out who he really was (after Track tried to keep it on the Down Low I bet), he was an 11 Series immediately reassigned to the TAC.

I mean, can you imagine?

I mean, was he sitting in the day-room watching Fox News one day with his friends and when his mom was announced as the VP Pick trying to play it off like it was no big deal when the group hears the pounding of combat boots moving quickly down the hallway and in runs the 1SG...

1SG:  "Palin!  Get in my office now!  Uh...  I mean...  Please...

Track:  "Moving First Sergeant!"

1SG:  "SPC Palin, I am assigning you to the TAC for the duration of the deployment."

Track:  "First Sergeant, I would really like to stay with my friends."

1SG:  "Well, who you are now affects this entire Company, Battalion and Brigade."

Track:  "Roger First Sergeant."

I know I am making light of it, in a way only another Soldier could, by ribbing him for being who is and how it affected his assignments and his life in the US Army.  I am thinking that he does get some endless grief from his buddies about who he is the son of.  And I am certain there was some consideration of where he would be assigned during this deployment, because if he slips and falls in the shower, there will be about 800 reporters to cushion the fall.

But the one thing I don't want to hear anymore from the Treasonous Left is the old saw about "well Mr/Mrs. Politician, why don't you send your kids to Iraq?"

Because Governor Palin is not sending her son to Iraq, he is a grown man who is choosing to give back to his country in one of the most selfless ways I can think of.

And I am going to guess that being raised in that family, it was just natural.
