The Spirit of Judas
Baldilocks expands on the idea of betrayal among former comrades. It gives a feel for the true values that matter.
I don't know what it is about spineless, disloyal "men" that arouses blinding, nearly homicidal fury in me but they do. Perhaps it's due to being a veteran or being descended from and nurtured by real men and loved by yet another. (And I bet that if the most feminist of women are honest, they will admit that they too despise the simpering, girly so-called men who kiss their backside on every issue.)
She also points out an excellent quote by CS Lewis about societies that stop producing sheepdogs.
We make men without chests and expect of them virtue and enterprise. We laugh at honour and are shocked to find traitors in our midst. We castrate and bid the geldings be fruitful.
--C.S. Lewis
