>Driven:
Sir:
>You Militaristic Twit:
I respect your right to free speech but I haven't been in a name calling contest since Kindergarten. You have me at a disadvantage sir.
>You really think our enemy in Afghanistan might have been fighting “cause they were bored, whatever”?
Of the 30 insurgents, criminals, hostile soldiers that I've fought, killed or captured, many don't really know why they are fighting. Sometimes they were forced to, sometimes they were fed propaganda. Sometimes they just sit there and cry. Mostly they don't know why, they don't understand, it was just the thing to do. So yes, "bored or whatever".
>There are those who know. There are those who don’t know. Driven, you are one of those who don’t know that you don’t know.
I've spent 20 months in Iraq. I know a little bit. What do you know that I don't? How did you gain your wisdom?
>Writings like yours prove that our Army is incapable of performing the doctrines established in FM 3-24.
My writings are my own opinions and feelings and in no way represent the Army or the U.S. government's views, opinions or policies.
>Re the 2/503: What an unnecessary waste! It does make me sad and depressed. Killing a 100 enemy doesn't justify losing 9 Americans at a now withdrawn from position. Poor leadership. Wrong place. Wrong time.
So... my friends sacrifice was a waste? Come to Fort Bragg and say that to my face. I would like to see the look in your eye when you disgrace the memory of nine soldiers and their deaths. It doesn't matter that it is a "withdrawn from position" or not. At the time of the battle it was full of American soldiers. If you feel we should go recapture it write your congressman, I volunteer to be the point man in the assault. I would offer you a spot on my team (and thus a spot at the front of said assault) but I really can't trust you to watch my back now can I?
>Our Army is brave. It means well. But once it is asked to go beyond killing people and blowing things up, it is worse than useless.
I have helped rebuilt villages, homes, schools, mosques and churches. I've supplied hundreds with food water and electricity. You are correct sir. Useless. If you can do a better job you are welcome to fly to the middle east and help us out. We apparently need all the help we can get.
>That is why I believe in the Powell doctrine and reject FM 3-24.
Never read the Powell doctrine, too busy training my soldiers to fight and complete the missions set forth by the government that was elected by the civilians of the U.S. In other words, the government you helped elect. Besides a few minutes ago you said we couldn't execute the FM 3-24. Why does it matter if we are "incapable of performing the doctrines established in FM 3-24" that you have rejected; you being the expert on military tactics and urban warfare that you are sir.
>A Patriotic American
I'm sure you are. Next time you hear the national anthem, stand up and place your right hand over your heart (you DO show respect for the National Anthem and the Flag don't you?) and remember that the stripes on that Star Spangled Banner are red to symbolize the blood shed by thousands of solders over the years.
I have shed my blood and tears. I have been sent to the emergency room time and time again. I have seen my own hands stained with the blood of my own friend. I have watched as they loaded his body onto a helicopter to carry him home. And I sure as hell don't have to take your insults.
Good day sir.
A Patriotic Soldier
