U.S. Navy and Army divers, along with Federal, state and local authorities participate in a joint service operation to raise the sunken former Soviet submarine Juliett 484 at Collier Point Park. MDSU-2, U.S. Army Dive Company and a NAVSEA Support Unit are preparing to salvage the former Soviet submarine that sank at her mooring point in about 30 feet of water in April 2007. This training exercise is part of the Department of Defense Innovative Readiness Training program. Through IRT, military divers receive training by taking part of real-world, community-based projects. IRT and civil-military projects improve military readiness and help rebuild America.  Location: PROVIDENCE, RI, US.  Photographer: Petty Officer 1st Class Eric Lippman, Navy Visual News Service.
