Kaboom! in the WashPo
There's a great article about our pal who used to write at Kaboom!
There has also been a lot of speculation about why we have supported LT G but been silent about his blog being shut down.
My personal opinion is that his CO was too heavy handed - there are quite a few milbloggers and spouses that disagree. A good CO should have done what he could to save the situation - a bad one will be concerned about his career and hide behind "good order and discipline". What right do I have to make that judgment? That depends. I was once a Lieutenant that had significant problems with moderating my self-expression (see first post here). I was in 3 different companies as an LT. My best CO took some hits for my attitude and my comments at times. And I learned a lot from him...and in turn did the same as a CO a few times.
We here at Blackfive did not blog about LT G's shut down in order to let him carry on the fight and not have his blog become a distraction. He is a Soldier. He took his lumps and went on. I wish things were different but that doesn't really matter.
Go meet Lieutenant Matt Gallagher at the WashPo.
[Big thanks to TSO who hails from several military blogs and one particularly decent pub in Arlington for correcting the news org that the story came from....it is the Washington Post, not the Wall Street Journal as I had originally identified.]
