Our Fallen Will be Well Served
Big Dave Anders gets the nod to protect our most sacred ground.
Colonel David P. Anders, a member of the local 82nd Airborne Chapter, is in line to serve as Commander of "The Old Guard" at Arlington National Cemetery.
Home from his recent deployment to the Middle East, Anders will soon attend the War College and upon completion of his education, will assume the duties as the "Guard" commander.
Respectfully referred to as "Colonel Dave" around the local Airborne Chapter, he is the son of Jan and the recently expired SGM (RET) Marshall Anders.
While in Arlington, Dave will be able to watch over the grave of his father, Marshall, who is buried in the National Cemetery.
Dave and I were company commanders together, twice. Then when I became a Deputy G3, Dave over-acheived with a third command.
When my son joined the 82nd Airborne, I was pleased to discover that in his first trip to combat he would be commanded by a close friend and true warrior.
Dave and his wife Jackie (among the most beautiful and gracious women I know) will honor us all in this sacred duty.
Circle the name; this guy is going to be a General.
And don't worry Dave, I won't say anything about how you really blew out your knee or the Sun Valley Country Club and Golf Resort! :-)
