How Will You Remember Us?
I read a lot of articles when I'm not working hard for the Evil Oil and Gas Industry (Yeah I know that's a really boring link....Tough. Buy a motorcycle or quit complaining about drilling in ANWR and off shore of FL and CA). Several caught my eye this week. And Matt has even highlighted some of the best ones here already. GreyHawk (Mrs. G and old GreyOne himself) does a great job of pointing out to those folks who can't seem to find the Truth in what is really occurring in Iraq and Afghanistan, like here. And he eloquently reminds us what Memorial Days should be about.
Memorial Day is for remembering those who sacrificed so much for us and appropriately honoring their sacrifice. Now, I know not everyone plans to go out and plant wreaths at the Veterans Cemeteries across America this weekend. Hell, I agree that we ought to enjoy the sunshine, the beach, the woods, the BarBQ, the scantily clad Women, and our families all weekend. But while we are out there enjoying ourselves, and basking in the glow of the Freedom and Peace we so rightfully deserve, let's also take two minutes before we dig in for lunch and a cold beer to say a small prayer:
Lord, Thanks ever so much for allowing me to live in a country at Peace, with Good Friends, Wonderful Family, lots of Opportunity, and the wherewithal to appreciate it. And Thank You for blessing our Lives with the Men and Women who make it possible to enjoy those things Today, Yesterday, and Tomorrow.
Press on. To Victory. Pass the cornbread and the ammunition, please.
