USS Independence, LCS 2, Launched!

The second hull-form in the new class Littoral Combat Ship was launched a few days ago in Mobile, Alabama.

Built by Austal Shipyards under contract from General Dynamics, the three-hulled trimaran is the second ship in the overall LCS class, but the first with the unique design.

I'm looking forward to seeing this puppy steam around chasing those little pirate dhows off HOA (and subsequently blowing them out of the water - or just run over the damn things!).
