No Worse Enemy....

And not in line to be "no better friend" either....

Because, if this is true , the jihadis/Psalmists/Al-Qeada et. al. are in for a wild, and short ride...

The Russians have played this game before, and they have a much more focused and "kinetic" strategy (to borrow a phrase from our books). In fact, when they fought in Chechnya, they fought for awhile in the house to house method that we used to clear Al Fallujah, but, after awhile, and quite a few young Russian soldiers had been wounded or killed, they decided on a much different course to "pacify" the city of Grozny.

The fired artillery into the city at an average rate of 4,000 rounds an hour, 24 hours a day, for 30 days.

And in case the Jihadis were absent from class that day, they should consult with some of the old men who remember when the Russians invaded Afghanistan. Perhaps they should ask around about the poisoned wells, the burned crops, the napalm and the chemicals to deforest large swaths of the country-side.

Now, notwithstanding the losses in both of those conflict, some of it based on tactics and some of it based on politics, the Russians have a particular way of dealing with their enemies that solves the problem permanently.

In 2002, Ibn Khattab, an Arab veteran of the Afghan war operating in Chechnya was killed by Russian forces. Khattab, who had been fundraising from the Persian Gulf states for the Chechen jihad, was poisoned by an under-cover Russian agent. Zelimhan Yandarbiyev, a Chechen terrorist leader who claimed to be president of the non-existent “republic of Ichkeria” was hunted down by Russian operatives in Doha, Qatar (the same country where the Al-Jazeera satellite news network is based). Yandarbiyev's car was blown up by two under-cover agents who were carrying Russian diplomatic passports.

I remember a time from my youth when Hezbollah, in the 1980's, kidnapped and executed a Russian diplomat. The KGB tracked down and killed the No. 2 guy from Hezbollah and sent the No. 1 guy the severed head.

Urban Legend? Misplaced Details? Who knows. But given their previous dealings with Islamic Terrorists, I am going to say I believe that Allah better order up some more virgins...

And pray we don't encourage the Russians....
