Welcome CNN Visitors
Bumped and Enhanced
Will remain near the top all day, scroll down for new stories
If you are coming here from CNN, please look around and be welcome. Before going too far, however, I urge you to read the The One Post That Started It All and the post that is in many ways at the heart of Blackfive.
Please take a moment and visit with Someone You Should Know and those who are Fallen But Never Forgotten. If you are interested in paying more than lip service to supporting the troops, visit Caring for the Defenders to find a multitude of ways in which people have helped and with which you can help.
If you are just here for the story you saw, then here is an easy link to Operation Puppy Love, it's follow-on, and to a story posted yesterday by Mr. Wolf on some of the subsequent Operation Puppy Loves.
If you are looking for my reporting from Iraq, it is here, scroll down or use the author archives in the sidebar. The non-military is here. I am disappointed CNN didn't show the wolves, as I shot my interview (rather, Monty operated the camera for me, while Pat and Gale provided backup) for the segment out at Wolf Park. Yes, those are wolves I was with; yes, we were out on a frozen lake; no, they are not domesticated; and, no, they don't scare me but do earn my respect. Come on out and visit us to see for yourself. Since they cropped and edited so you didn't see the wolves, check out Wolf Park's Photos of the Day to see what you missed.
Also, since getting DJ out was a team effort, I want to thank once again the soldiers of 1st Platoon, Alpha Company, 1st Battalion, 5th Cavalry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, Texas. Thanks for hosting me, and letting me be a part of this. I also want to thank Soldier's Angels, Prudent Publishing (parent company of The Gallery Collection), and Gryphon Airlines. My embed, and Operation Puppy Love, would have been impossible without them.
