The Fight for Mosul
“The Islamic State of Iraq is faced with an extraordinary crisis, especially in al-Anbar...The renegades and Americans started launching their attacks to destroy us. We lost cities, and afterwards villages, and the desert became a dangerous refuge. We got away from people and found ourselves in a wasteland desert.” - Al Qaeda Iraq letter captured in late Summer 2007
As our enemy's areas of influence diminish, they are being pushed to a few different places - one being Mosul. Below are combat photos of the 2-2 MiTT team with their Iraqi counterparts engaging AQI in Mosul on January 23rd. (The MiTT teams do not get enough credit for their hard work and courage):
U.S. Army Soldiers assigned to the 2nd Brigade, 2nd Iraqi Army Division Military Transition Team take cover behind a car during a fire fight in Mosul, Iraq, on Jan. 23, 2008. The soldiers of the 2-2 MiTT work side by side with the Iraqi army, assisting and advising them on the fight against the insurgency. Date Taken: January 23rd, 2008. Location: Mosul, IQ.
