Face of America Bicycle Ride 2008
The Face of America Bicycle Ride 2008 is coming up May 3 & 4. This is a joint venture between World T.E.A.M. (The Exceptional Athlete Matters) Sports, Walter Reed Army Medical Center, the National Navy Medical Center (better known as Bethesda), Soldier's Angels, the Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund, and others to benefit our wounded through a two-day inclusive bike ride from Bethesda, Maryland to Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. The participation fee for non-military goes towards covering all costs associated for the military participants. A goal for this year is to grow the ride to 500 riders with 100 being injured/ill warriors.
This is a good project, and I am giving you an advanced heads-up for two reasons. One, if you are like me, you have to budget such things ahead. Two, if you will pony up donations either directly to the event or to Soldier's Angels, and provided they can find a double-wide/tandem rig with training wheels (or a large trike), I will be willing to see if I can get my fat stove-up carcas up on it and go along. I figure video of me falling over, wiping out, and walking up hills ought to be good for either Blackfive TV or Bill Engval's new redneck video show...
I also know we have a number of readers in the DC area. I challenge you not just to donate, but to ride. 500 heck, let's go for broke on this. You may be warrior, chairborne, REMF, politician, staffer, or executive drone; but, if I can look at getting out there and hurting myself participating, so can you.
So, ante up.

who also asks Lynette to put down the rolled-up newspaper now...

TCO'd via Soldiers' Angels, but I will spare you the sight of me teetering on a bike amd crashing into some poor wounded warrior rider. They've risked enough for their country.
