One of the nice things about the day job is that I get to work with a variety of interesting people doing very interesting things. One of the people is a researcher and teacher who would like obtain some samples of armor and other protective gear, both in good shape and damaged. As in vests, helmets, eyepro, etc. Officially, this is for show-and-tell for the students. The fact that these students may be doing research and development on new systems, improvements, etc. is not worth mentioning, right? If you have something you would be willing to donate, drop me a line using the e-mail over there on the right somewhere, and I will get you in touch with the researcher.
The other is a question I've got. I'm looking at getting one (or more) external hard drives to take on embeds. That means I would like something compact, ruggedized, and that would run off USB rather than requiring a separate power source. The only thing I've found so far is this one, but would love to find out if there are others that are reliable. Thoughts?
