Project Valour-IT: Auctions
In the comments to this post, Miss Ladybug pointed out the SA Valour-IT Auction Site and suggested -- correctly -- that I might could (and should) make use of it. I have done so, and the first two items are up: 11x14 prints of Golden Fire and 909-Blue Skies Forever. Each is print #2 of the series of hand-numbered and hand-signed prints -- check the auction site for details.
Please note that there is no reserve price on each, so anyone with pockets of any depth can take part. However, if you have deeper pockets and just can't wait, there is an immediate purchase price. Once the donation has been confirmed by SA, it is yours.
Also note I said the first items. Once I get a couple of things done today, I am going to be going through some of my things and putting a few other goodies up for sale. So, stay tuned to this for updates, or just go check out the site on a regular basis.

NOTE: Would there be any interest in Spacelab Mission Steins? These were purchased by the people working the mission, and feature mission artwork, position, and name. These steins would have one or both of my parent's names on them, and the position will show as Remote Support. Let me know, and I will try to find some of them and get them up.

NOTE II: An autographed copy of Beyond This Horizon by Robert A. Heinlein has been put up in the auction. It does have a high reserve, as I don't want it going for nothing. One of the few regrets I have in this life is that I missed a chance to meet him years back, and let a correspondence I had with Virginia Heinlein lapse...
NOTE III: I have put up a variety of space memorabilia as well. Check out the Laughing Wolf items for bid, and then check out all the items that are up for bid.

Wow, Laughing Wolf--what wonderful items to offer! I'm looking forward to seeing how much they can bring in for Valour-IT. Thank you so much for your generosity. Can't be easy to part with unique items like that...
(p.s. I think there was a problem with the photo upload on the "Golden" one)

Your "last" autographed Heinlein?! Laughing Wolf!!!
Folks, LW has just the bar for this competition. You may not be able to offer up something like LW just put up there, but dig deep according to your means. I know I will. Thanks for the inspiration, Laughing Wolf.
Damn.

oops. Somehow "set" in the second paragraph above developed feet and wandered off.

I used to collect toys like crazy, but only Fisher-Price. So, inspired by LW, I went into the Toy closet and found a little gem of a pull toy. As close to memorobilia as I could get was Gran'pa Frog...Maybe a SEAL, ahem, might be interested? You know, Squids, frogs, tadpoles and all that? (sheepish grin). Don't we have a few Gran'pa Frogs in our midst? Take it literally or figuratively speaking!!
He ribbits....

DUDE!!!! An autographed Heinlein???!!! For a long time, he was my favorite author. If your offer had been Starship Troopers or The Moon is a Harsh Mistress, I'd a been on it like a duck on a Junebug.
I wish I had known of the ability to offer items for auction to raise funds ... sigh
I would definitely be interested in SpaceLab stuff.
Note: I also could not get the Golden Fire photo to load.
Going to see SpaceLab stuff now ...

Alas, FuzzyBear, it's a timing issue ...

I haven't read all of Robert Heinlein's books, but I can tell ya, Glory Road is a good one.
Anyway, anytime I donate, it goes to Soldiers Angels..

I had a light bulb moment, FuzzyBear!! Waiting for feedback from another party...you're right, LW has really been an inspiration. :)
CB:
Yeah, Glory Road is another good one.

Glad to hear something may be in the works, Old Soldier.
Over at my place, "unkawill" has sworn that he will not be outbid on the Heinlein (see comments). Anybody to try and bid him up a bit..? ;)
Posted by: FbL | November 03, 2007 at 09:13 PM
Heh, Heinlein rocks! I saw starship troopers before I read the book, and as can be expected when I came round to reading it I was shock at how the book was utterly disregarded.
I have similar fears for I am Legend.

I'm looking forward to those Space Lab items, LW. I already bid on one. My boys would get the biggest thrill out of those items (and so would I!).
