CBS Investigates Military Suicides
"We first started researching military suicides because it had never been done before. But when all the data was collected, we were astonished. I had no idea how much of an epidemic CBS uncovered. We expect this to be a wake up call" - Armen Keteyian, CBS News' chief investigative correspondent.
Looks like CBS has been working on this story for awhile. Here's the details:
SOLDIER SUICIDES
Tuesday, November 13thPart 1 – The Numbers: In a 5-month investigation, CBS News collected data (that has never been gathered before) revealing just how many veterans are committing suicide nationwide. See the alarming results.
Wednesday, November 14th
Part 2 – Cracked System?: How well is the Department of Veterans Affairs handling suicides? CBS News investigates.
I haven't seen much on suicide other than a lot of assumptions. The title is 'Soldier Suicides' but the text discusses 'veterans' (and that could be a lot of people, not necessarily OIF or OEF veterans). And I don't know Armen Keteyian or his reporting. So there's a lot more I'd like to know and probably won't be able to catch the broadcast.
Please discuss or respond in the Comments.
Update: Tim Oren (blog is Due Dilligence) reminds of a post about suicide at Winds of Change that we linked to before...Man, People Are So Gullible.
