OUTSTANDING!
After reading the posts here at Blackfive, I was hoping this would happen.
After reading Lone Survivor, I did not see how it could not happen.

It's about eff'n time! In fact, if Blackfive would like to accept donations from those of us who comment here and send something nice to Murphy's family as a gesture of our support and goodwill, I'd be happy to contribute $50.

It's well deserved and long overdue. All 4 should have gotten the MOH in my opinion

While I have a strong preference for pre-humous medals, this man earned this and more than we can give.
Cordially,
Uncle J

I also think all four should get it, but I am thrilled Michael got it!! I think about his family and fiance all the time. God Bless them, and the families of Danny and Axe, and all the guys who died that day.

Glad to see that we, as a country, are stepping up to award this MoH to this man. It is certainly well deserved.
I want to see some more of these awarded to those who are have lived through the battles they have fought. I think a good start would be SGM Brad Kasal could have his Navy Cross upgraded for his actions in Fallujah. Maybe Captain Chontosh could have the same done to one of his Navy Crosses.
I know that the circumstances that you might find yourself in that gets you nominated for this medal are dangerous and most often, lethal. Having a few men who have rightly earned this medal for their actions, and who still serve, would be a tremendous inspiration to our soldiers.
I am already in awe of the actions of SGM Kasal and LT Murphy. I would follow men like these into Hell carrying two 5 gallons cans of gas, some dynamite and a lit Zippo lighter.

God bless you, Michael Murphy.
I have raised my glass to you. I have shed tears for you. I have told and will continue to tell your story to family and friends. Your actions will always serve as inspiration.
The Medal of Honor is all we can humbly offer to ensure that generations will never forget everything that you have given us...and given FOR us.
I wish I would have been overhead to support you, my brother. I wish I would have been overhead. Rest well, LT. You've earned it.

God Bless Mr. Murphy. As I have said several times before. My children will know their names as the grow older. I will teach them that their heroes are men like Mr. Murphy and not the fools they see on television. I will do my best to ensure that my children will be honorable Americans who love their country and remember the sacrifices that have been made on their behalf. God Bless tham all.

Rest well brave one -- we'll celebrate your life here, blessings to you and your family.

Fair skies and Following seas, Mr. Murphy.
May you stand as inspiration to many others as you and your companions earned their place beside the Spartans and heroes of foregone eras.
Still, I too would like to see some live heroes earning the medal.

BZ Lt. Murphy.
I hope that the impression I got from the statement of the family (in the linked article) is that there has been some coming together for them and Luttrell. I felt it only added to the tragedy that there was some difficulty between them after all this.
Perhaps this momentous occasion will even warrant a posting at Froggy Ruminations?

I think it's about time that this happens.
Men like Mike, Danny, Axe, and Marcus are true heroes. I love them with all my heart.
I hereby renew my pledge to these brave men and all the others just like them that I will live my life in a manner worthy of the sacrifice made and the pain they endured. I only hope that my military service in Vietnam and 30 years as a police officer serve to honor this pledge.
God bless Lt. Murphy and his family. May He grant to them the "peace that passeth all understanding" Please know that this old soldier loves you, thanks you from the bottom of my heart, and yearns to find a way to repay you for your sacrifice.
God bless America. God bless our troops and God bless every American who willingly puts on a uniform and steps into harms way to defend my country. I love each of you. If I was able, I would join you in this battle for freedom.
