Diggers Vs. Taliban
Jules Crittenden has a nice story about our Aussie allies, the Diggers, in Afghanistan. He sums up an article about the latest clash:
...The great thing about the Taliban is that, inexplicably, the indigenous guerrilla force that drove out the Russians through hit-and-run tactics, trapping convoys in remote mountain valleys and killing, is increasingly engaging in frontal assaults, and when it does hit, often is deprived of an opportunity to run. Here’s a report from earlier this week on a couple of Taliban-initiated attacks vs. coalition. Score 165-1, NATO....
Don't forget about Beccy Cole who we helped to get a lot of airplay here in the States as the Poster Girl on the Wrong Side of the World...no wonder the Diggers always kick ass.

What a lovely song. It's sometimes funny to realize how much we and our Aussie friends have in common in our national temperament. I guess that comes from being founded by the type of blokes who were considered too unruly for UK standards? ;-)

Certainly captures my sentiments about this war. Australia and Britain face their own domestic demographic shifts that have brought into stark focus their own problems with turmoil that originated in the Middle East.
Now, France joins in. Funny how, whenever France feels under threat (Iran missiles, it's own domestic "insurgency") it seems to suddenly get all friendly.

great. 6 years after invasion and things are worse now than they were in 2001. but i shouldnt be so sarcastic. it was all the fault of the liberal, democrat congres... oh wait. maybe the liberal, left wing supreme court... oh wait....

Ok, for a start....We lost the Rugby on PURPOSE!! We know the rest of the world is sick and tired of us being the best at everything so we thought we would give another country a chance to win something unimportant (we worry more about football when the ball actually touches the foot - we call it Footy or Aussie Rules).
But yes, our Diggers do a dandy little job of kickin ass dont they!!
