Maliki or Petraeus? Easy choice

Posted By Uncle Jimbo

From the Telegraph

One Iraqi source said Mr Maliki used a video conference with Mr Bush to call for the general's signature strategy to be scrapped. "He told Bush that if Petraeus continues, he would arm Shia militias," said the official. "Bush told Maliki to calm down."

At another meeting with Gen Petraeus, Mr Maliki said: "I can't deal with you any more. I will ask for someone else to replace you."

Gen Petraeus admitted that the relationship was stormy, saying: "We have not pulled punches with each other."

Petraeus_maliki OK I'll play, if it comes to push and shove between Maliki and Petraeus, I would say ta ta Nouri, go give a full report to the Mullahs. Failure to make a bit of political progres is the main beef and he is the big boss man. He could very easily be the last bit of meat the Dems require to feel safe telling their enraged left they made progress against W and the war. Oh it will not be enough by a long shot and that is where we will see if the Dems continue off the cliff. For all their sound and fury the netroots are representative of 20% of the populace generously and their amplified demands for unconditional surrender are hard to sell to many still capable of seeing progress.

I have no love for Maliki and perhaps a little power struggling could end up with some more deal-oriented, ya' know pork barrely Iraqis looking to get at that oil money. Well to start siphoning off their more equal pig shares, they have to cut a deal. If we can keep the bad guys beat down as they are currently, when the Iraqis show back up to Parliament perhaps avarice can overcome bloodlust. Worth a shot. I mean the UN is on the way to sort all this out, me I'm bettin' on naked human greed.
