Will Murtha Be Censured?

Posted By Blackfive

Probably not.

Pundit Review has a comprehensive post about the Haditha incident and John Murtha's horrible behavior.  They even repost a podcast of when I appeared on the show to discuss a few things and we talk about Murtha.  Listening to that broadcast from almost a year ago, I don't think that I've calmed down about Murtha at all. Murtha comes up at about the 11 minute mark of the interview.

Censure, a slap in the back of the head, something, anything for that (expletive, expletive).

I'd love to see Gen. Pace take Murtha to task. Hey, I can dream can’t I?

I wish it wasn't a question...I wish it was a reality...

By the end of the year, Gen. Pace will be able to say anything he wants, publicly, about Murtha & Co.

It would be nice to see Gen. Pace, in his retirement announcement, take the "electeds" to task and name names of those who have hamstrung the troops and undermined the mission. He has more class than I, so it's not likely. Maybe he can come up with his version of the MacArthur farewell to get the point across.

Well, that's the issue when congress starved the military for purchasing funds during the 90's. Without the military buying things, most of the companies merged or went out of business. Now there is a war on and the politico's want it quick and cheap. The engineering delta says that requires some sacrifice.

Guess they played a little too much C&C, thinking that weapons just pop out a short time after ordering them.

Back on topic, I hope they do skewer Murtha. If this were any other trial, everyone would be up in arms about the statements.

One of the Marines is suing him in civil court. But that was brought last year, and I've heard beans about it... anyone have fresh intel on that case?

Murtha...
ptooey!!!!

Congressman Murtha is a discredit even to his own party. He is a "manufactured" marine, someone who joined the reserves to stay out of combat until he realized military service was essential to a political career. Being a battalion Intelligence officer at DaNang is not the same as commanding a rifle company on the DMZ. That's why he has zero loyalty to the brotherhood.

As a defense contractor, I was told by my boss that I had to award a subcontract to an unqualified supplier in Johnstown PA. I refused. Murtha runs a defense fair in Johnstown where Boeing, Lockheed-Martin and all the big defense companies funnel jobs to his political supporters.

What Murtha said about the marines in Haditha is not only outrageous, it is actionable. Now that it appears the charges will be dropped, I hope the marines who were Nifonged will sue for damages. One of the marines' parents live in Murtha's district. They could make his 2008 campaign very interesting.

It is sad that Jack Murtha sits in congress with neither honor, loyalty nor integrity.

Arch, that's interesting. Apparently, Murtha has a brother in the defense contracting business. Murtha was chairman of the House defense appropriations subcommittee when he first came out strongly against the war. He recently had a public tiff with another member (Obey?) yelling publically at the guy that he wasn't going to let him have any more defense dollars.

I don't want to assume that everyone in the military has rejected him due to his behavior, however. Does he still show up at Walter Reed and is welcomed there, despite his warm relationship with the Codepinkos who protest at the gate? I'll never forget his MoveOn interview, where he explained that they'd carefully designed war readiness requirements to ensure that the military couldn't meet them, forcing them to reduce numbers deployed -- the slow bleed.

When I was an air force officer, I served on several solurce selection evaluation boards, awarding multi-million dollar contracts. There was a regulation (AFR 30-30) on conflict of ineterest. It stated that the "appearance" of a conflict of interest was a violation of the reg.

Jack would have a big problem with 30-30.

Murtha deserves more than just a censure, but I doubt that he'll even receive that much with the congress that we now have. Easy enough for him to convict these young gentleman before the system even had its look at the evidence. He would have hanged them at the next available tree. He makes me sick.

Is there not one ounce of dignity left in polotics. We have seen the true colors of our media traitors, and now the polotical scumbags are showing their desperate re-election choices.By choices I mean they started by lashing out at the president, then the generals, now as the elections get closer they are taking aim at our soldiers without having any facts. It's not our soldiers that are loosing face around the world,it's the people here at home! It's the people we elect! When was the last time Murtha went to Walter Reed,or Pelosi or Reid welcomed home some soldiers. They say we support our troops, words are cheap and deni-able,having the nads to act and stand by your actions are what this country was built on!God Bless our Soldiers as they defend our freedoms. Our Warriors must get it right evertime, the scumbags once!!Semper fi
