Blogger's Roundtable: Ooh-Rah! Edition
Late last week we had a roundtable with Marine General Walter Gaskin. This was a truly outstanding discussion, which I hope you will read in its entirety. It was probably the most informative description of the conditions in Anbar right now that I have yet encountered.
My question, which was off topic for the conversation we were having, arose from a reader who emailed us last week to say -- "I'm headed to OCS, what should I read?" If that's you, or if you are considering a career as a military officer: here's a guy who went from ROTC at Savannah State in south Georgia to a Major General of Marines, ready to answer that question for you.
Holding, as I do, one of my degrees from Savannah's Armstrong Atlantic State University, I'm glad to see the gentleman prospering. The smaller colleges and universities rarely get the respect they are due; but as General Gaskin demonstrates, they can produce some quality alumni.
Transcript is here.
