RCT-6 Email: 1700

Posted By Grim

We jumped from 1,000 to 1,500 quickly, but apparently that was pretty much it.  After that email slowed a lot, and last night only twenty more came in.  At just over 1,700, Sgt. Deboard is declaring victory and starting to print them out for the men.

I'll strike my original comments, since I wouldn't want to be accused of "complaining."  Here's the email address again:

Awww, Grim, you just have to keep at it.
Projects like this take time.

Umm, how about putting the RCT-6 EMAIL into this post so that people seeing it have direct access?

Don't just complain -- act...

Fair enough, though the complaint was only directed at those who have received this and not acted themselves.

Email sent.

Message sent. Don't give up..

c'mon Grim, you're preaching to the choir...chin up!!

My email was kicked back (?) and resent. Is their box full? The resend has not come back to me.

It got reposted on the Soldiers' Angels forum early this morning, and I just bumped it up again. 1700 is just NOT acceptable...! :-)

I think Carrie may be right in that it may take a bit of time to get the word out and build the responses.

Hey, if a former squid can send emails to anonymous Marines with all the potential for jokes that opens up, anyone can. So, I'm pestering everyone I know to get with the program, and then some.

Expect a healthy bump in numbers today. As someone above said, 1700 is pretty impressive, but it's still unacceptable. :-)

Grim is a man on a mission!

The e-mails are really, really incredible. I want to thank everyone for the effort so far. I am really looking forward to handing these out to our warfighters. Bear in mind they may not necessarily respond, but they WILL read them. And though war tends to make young men cynical, they will appreciate the thoughts.

Thank you again for all of your commitment.

Can we please have a 'snail mail' address for these Marines?
Many of my friends do not have computers, but would write letters.
Thanks.

I've got it up here!

Grim:
I had to really think about this. What I wanted to say and how to say it.
Sent mine this morning.
I'm disappointed too. I thought there would be several thousand by now. Many Americans are running there butts off. I'm working six days a week on a new seventy story tower here in Vegas, recovering from an accident and right in the middle of moving. But I feel it is too important to let pass, so I encourage you who may be reading this to MAKE the time if you haven't already sent an email.
These are Americans in a very difficult fight for ALL of us. Semper Fidelis from an old Trooper. I believe you are a part of the next Greatest Generation that will result in a vast sea change in Human History if we can prevail and overcome. And that is my constant prayer for all of you.

I'm sending more.

I'm really disappointed.

There are more than 1,700 Lizardoids who read LGF every single day. Apparently, they couldn't be bothered to send an E-Mail...Sorry, but I'm really crushed. I had even sent a note to Glenn Reynolds, hoping he'd post a link, but no luck there.

I'm absolutely stunned. I had truly thought that we'd be well over 6,000 by now with all the blogs and mailing lists asking for emails.

Orion

Guess it's time for the lead pipes and brass knuckles. We will keep sending, and people tell me they are doing it.

Hey....don't lose heart. My computer crashed while trying to send one out last week but have just done it today. Yes, Soldiers' Angels are reminding everyone again today but I don't believe I've seen it posted at LGF.

A Soldiers' Angel in So. CA

Proud Soldiers' Angel has sent one and sent it on to those who support our troops! I have faith they will reach 6,000. Just push it and let it roll! It will pick up speed!

Margaret,
It was posted at LGF last Saturday, they were enthusiastic about it as well (about 91 comments)

Perhaps a tentative deadline so that well meaning procrastinators will have an incentive to just get it done?

Say....one week or 10 days from now?

I'd like to have the link to RCT-6's blog. I've posted the info on my blog, and sent an email, and contacted as many in my circle as I could.
BTW, THANKS for the heads up Coop.
SEMPER FI

Just posted the email link at Gathering of Eagles Forum. Don't know why I didn't think of that before ...

To aid in getting the word out, I've added the email address to the letter-writers' and Marine forums on the Books for Soldiers boards. We'll leave it up and active until the 6000 message goal is reached.

And yes, I sent my email already! :-)

OS54..I didn't think of that, either...but I can get on TH and afriend will post a link...sent another...

Walkin' Boss and I sent the link to a radio station DJ who has a website with a support our military section this am...

We'll standby to see if it makes it onto the website, before I post any details.

Have sent several and am working on others to do so. OK, I've threatened them but only in the nicest of ways. It'll happen.

WE contacted quite a few bloggers today to see about getting some help. Confederate Yankee, Flopping Aces, K-Lo at the NRO, and others are posting it. Soldiers Angels is on it, too.

We'll get some momentum going, Sgt. DeBoard.

I sent mine with the first post Grim made & notified all my e-mail folks. Have nagged them once, guess I should do it again.

Sent mine. Emailed some family and friends. Perhaps B5 could ask Hugh Hewitt to also post and mention on the show- that might generate some too.

Ok I just found out about this from Malkin's website. I want to write, but what do I say???? I can't even imagine what they are going through over there. What could I write that wouldn't come off sounding like a spoiled American without a clue?? I want to encourage them so any suggestions would be welcome.

Just tell them that you appreciate what they're going through on your behalf, Tina. Tell them you'll support them all the way. Tell them thank you. If you only say that, it will be enough.

I sent an email but it bounced right back. I'll try again in the am.

Is there a coffee shortage I didn't hear about?

Seriously, though, it's hard to write a letter...but what the Marines are doing is much harder. And as Matt pointed out yesterday, there's serious warfare going on right now, and we need to be just as serious about our support. Prayers, donations, LETTERS.....

Speaking of which, here's my proposed template:

Dear Marine,
My name is _________________ and I'm writing to you from _______. I hope I don't say the wrong thing; it's hard to put myself into your shoes (or boots.) But I'll stumble through this because you need to know: I'm grateful for your service to this country. I can't imagine how hard it must be for you to do what you do.

We don't know each other so I'll tell you a little about myself. Every day I go to X and I X. (Insert opinion of X here). My X and X live with me and I wish you could see them. They are so X. (Insert story?) Anyways, I thought you'd like that little glimpse of the country you so faithfully protect.

You are in my thoughts/prayers. What you are doing is important. I look forward to the day you can come victoriously home, but until then take care, keep doing a great job, and remember that America is proud of you.

Warmest wishes,
X

I saw this on Michelle Malkin's website and immediately sent an email. I thought also of sending one to Roger Hedgecock here in San Diego.

Thank you for getting this together.

Already emailed earlier but how about PGR's across the country? I bet they would post this... MY 2 cents' worth.

I posted my message if it's of any help to anyone:

http://viewfromthe8thfloor.blogspot.com/2007/06/dont-know-what-to-say-to-marine.html

I sent one telling the Marines not to listen to CNN and to listen to B5. I personally dislike CNN and don’t watch them.

Now, B5 has a CNN clip. It just keeps going ‘round.

1,700 is nowhere near enough. I just heard about this thru Michele Malkin's site and sent my email today. I also forwared this to all my friends so they can send emails.

How about letting Rush Limbaugh know? I will send him the link.

Hey thank you for your suggestions. I sent out an email and once I got going I found I had a lot to say! I am sending a note to all my friends with the email link enclosed. I know they will write as well.

I'm very new to all this computer stuff,I don't know what a blog is nor do I know what a url is. I just want to tell The guys and girls over there that we are absolutely with them, whether we are for or against the war. God bless all the troops and we know that someone has to sacrifice a great deal to keep our freedoms going. Thank you and God bless you all. Mike/Tucson,Az.

If you've got that part, Mike, the rest doesn't matter. Let me know if you need help sending the email; otherwise, you're good to go.

just sent off an email from another site, but i'm not sure if you'll recieve it so......i've come to the conclusion that the ideological left hates our country - it's hard to understand, but it must begin at home and i'm sure it's also learned during college. However, when i ask them to name a country that's done more for their own citizens and the world they tend to change the subject or blurt out Cuba or some other dumb-ass country - they tend to loose eye contact at the same time so i figure their just weak-minded and clueless. anyway, i read a number of blogs [ex. Bill Roggio [sp?], mudville, pajamasmedia] everyday to keep up on what the US military is doing. I avoid the MSM on a daily basis, so i think i'm pretty well informed on what's happening.

i hope the surge will work........I believe your doing good job...no, a great job, stay safe....and on the offensive!
