Al Qaeda Heavy Weapons Range Hit by the USAF

Posted By Blackfive

Check this out. On Tuesday, May 8, 2007, U.S. Air Force F-16s destroyed anti-aircraft weapons at a terrorist training camp near Fallujah, Iraq. Watch footage from a drone, where you can see terrorists practicing with their weapons:

I like my terrorists served up the old fashioned way, done with the extra-crispy recipe...

I don't know a lot about military strategy. After watching the tape my question is: Why weren't the facilities also destroyed?
It looked to me like the vehicles were destroyed while nothing else was. Was that intentional? If so, why? Thanks in advance for any replies.

My layman's guess is that they wanted to leave the buildings intact so that the ground troops following up could capture whatever files, notes, etc. that the terrorists would have in there. Instead of blowing them up.

But that's just a guess.

Sweet. Hope a QRT got to the facilities real quick for intel...

:)

Wow, bet that caught them by surprise!

HERE COMES THE BOOOOOM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How much you wanna bet those weapons came from Iran? fothermuckers.

Short and sweet. Start serving your time in Hell, you sorry pieces of drek!

"...and the next sound you hear will be..."

Current ROEs state that PID (Positive IDentification) must be established before you can start lobbing ordnance at folks; i.e., you must witness hostile intent or a hostile act. The fire was coming from the trucks, and that established PID for a kinetic strike on the trucks.

So, while the idea that the buildings were spared for intelligence purposes could very well be correct, the Occam's Razor answer is that since the buildings were being fired upon, not fired from, there was no reason to level them. No PID, no boom.

The YouTube comments say this was from a video game, but the audio was from an actual attack. True?

At 'em boys, Give 'er the gun!

I'll second Tim's =8-}

The middle east, where the terrorists are living on borrowed time, and the goats are nervous.

May they enjoy all 72 of their transvestites in paradise.

I hope a QRF was sent in as well for clean up.

My favorite - crispy critter terrorist with water cress - excellent! Many thanks to the pilot for cooking them up just right.

To hit on what Sub was talking about. It is kind of hard to learn how to shoot with accuracy when whenever you start practicing with your weapons, you get some kind of surprise from the sky.

When will they learn,we need target practice too.But we always hit what we aim at.I was at our home land security base again this afternoon and got to see the F-16s from the Vermont ANG flying around, awesome, such a little jet can pack such a big boooom!I didn't see anybody firing from the buildins at the vehicles, were there some friendlys being pinned down in the buildings by the AQ vehicles? Lets play some more pin the tail on the goat herder!Outstanding job fly boys! Semper Fi

Precision targeting is good. John Paul Vann was asked what is the best weapon to use in counterinsurgency. He said "a knife" and went on to say the "and the worst weapon is a B52."

I cannot believe the USAF killed those innocent farmers using their weapons to defend themselves from the wolves chasing their flocks.
/end channeling stupid liberals

Heh. Good job, Johnny Jihad. When you get to see St. Peter you'll realzise just how futile your existance (and demise) were. Moron.
