Redhead Infidel on the road to DC

Heidi sends yesterday:

I am deploying my little troop tomorrow at 0600.  We'll arrive in DC around 1300, and commence the adventure of the Metro with all our stuff.  I'm looking forward to showing the  DC that I love - our American heritage - to my son and nephews as we gear up for the Gathering of Eagles on Saturday.

There are thousands of Eagles already aloft and making their way to DC.  I know of people here in TX who left yesterday and today.  There is a contingent coming in from Belize and another from Hawai'i.  Thousands are riding their bikes into town - not even counting Rolling Thunder and the Patriot Guard Riders!  I've worked with some really wonderful veterans over the years, but I've never seen such a massive undertaking succeed in such an abbreviated time frame (one month!).  It's exciting, terrifying, and entirely unprecedented -a voluntary mass deployment of old warriors and young warriors - all making their way to DC for a united purpose.

I look forward to meeting many of you there in person.  For those of you who can't make it but are with us in spirit, many thanks from all of us.  Keep your eyes on the GOE website because we'll start uploading photos and video as the weekend closes.  I'll still have email at night, so stay in touch!
