In defense of profanity and name-calling

Posted By Uncle Jimbo

I am re-opening the unclejimbo.com site for a couple of reasons, one is my departure from madison.com due to ignorance and stupidity of the newspaper company (backstory later), but also because I want to indulge myself and Matt runs a much more propah site than my instincts point to. So I will drop my more edgy bits there and link them. Plus I am considering a weekly video rant that would be better off there anyhow. So as fa irst exercise let’s discuss just how naughty I am, or am not.

The recent kerfluffle about John Edwards hiring of a couple of fairly rabid lefty bloggers to run his official campaign blog has brought all kinds of commentary. Some focused on what they were hatin’, some focused on the naughty words. I think the former is quite a bit more important than the latter as simple words, even profane ones, are much less important than hateful ideas. While a majority of the discussion focused on the content, far too many focused on the f-bombs alone as if their very appearance discredits the content and it’s writer.

The rest of my self-justifying is here.
