Rumsfeld's Replacement
I haven't heard much good about Gates from many sources with regards to his ability to lead the DoD. He's a good guy, from what I hear, but someone without the ability to separate administration policy from military strategy to actually win the war. To me, military background is not necessarily a requirement for the job, either.
I would have like to have seen a Democrat like Joe Lieberman or, even better, Zell Milller, take the reigns. That would have been more of a bipartisan move and maybe get more of a chance to work with a Democrat led Congress and Senate. Plus, Zell would easily keep the press on their toes as much as Rumy did.
What do you think?
