A date which will live in infamy

President Roosevelt calling December 7, "a date which will live in infamy..."

One of America’s biggest generations were faced with the attacks on Pearl Harbor in 1941 that brought the United Sates into WWII at 0753 on Dec 7^th.

^{An event that would catapult the American forces into war for years to come. Every household affected, every one backing the fight behind America . Service members put their tested training to use in foreign soil to rid the enemy of the hate they brought. Another generation faces attacks on the World Trade Center , Pentagon and in the skies above US soil. At 0846am an American flight crashes into the first World Trade Center. An event that would catapult the American forces into war for years to come. Every household affected, every one backing the fight behind America . Service members put their tested training to use in foreign soil to rid the enemy of the hate they brought.}

In Hawaii, Americans are taken completely by surprise. The first attack wave targets airfields and battleships. The second wave targets other ships and shipyard facilities. The air raid lasts until 9:45 a.m. Eight battleships are damaged, with five sunk. Three light cruisers, three destroyers and three smaller vessels are lost along with 188 aircraft. The Japanese lose 27 planes and five midget submarines which attempted to penetrate the inner harbor and launch torpedoes.

In NewYork, Washington and Pennsylvania. Americans are taken completely by surprise. 8:46 AM: American Airlines flight 11 crashes into the World Trade Center north tower between the 93rd and 99th floors. 9:03 AM: United Airlines flight 175 crashes into the World Trade Center south tower between the 77th and 85th floors. 9:37 AM: American Airlines flight 77 crashes into The Pentagon. 9:59 AM: South Tower of World Trade Center collapses. 10:03 AM: United Airlines flight 93 crashes into a field in Shanksville, Pennsylvania. 10:28 AM: North Tower of World Trade Center collapses. 5:20 PM: WTC building 7 collapses.

In both major historic events, America was attacked on home soil where innocent American people died as another country waged war on us. The first in 1941 began a chain of events that required the US to go to war, where we completed some of the monumental events that made our country what it is today. The attacks in 2001 carried the same attributes however, through politics and the major play of the media has steered the backing of the American people away of the root of the problem.

Both events will be known in America’s history as mammoth events that shaped our country and eventually the world. However, how will generations sixty years from now look back on Sept 11^{th 2001? Will they see the same American spirit that was displayed following the attacks on Pearl Harbor? Will they see how the American people rose up many years after the attacks and continue the fight on terrorism as they did back in 1941?}

The generations of 1941 and 2001 are very different. The days of the women riveters are not around now. Today we do however have women playing a large role in the fight against terrorism in a much different way than they did in 1941. Perhaps there is a correlation between the two that shows how America will prevail, we will continue the fight on terrorism and will combat evil as we did in 1941. I have to wonder though what the reporters during WWII would think of the reporters of today …………..

Today, we must remember those who were attacked, their families and also remember the sons of bitches that attacked us! As in 1941, everyone was doing their part for the war effort. Women, children and men from every race. I know they didn’t forget who attacked them in 1941. Can you say that about yourself now?
