I read the Nation because my boy Johnny Nichols writes there and because they represent the “e-lite” of the rabid left. There tends to be some fairly deranged material there, but Tom Engelhart may have written the worst set of tortured analogies ever to crawl from the fetid miasma of the fever swamps, enjoy.

The link between 9/11 and Iraq is unfortunately all too real. The Bush administration made it so in the heat of the post-9/11 shock.

Think of it this way: In the immediate wake of 9/11, our President and Vice President hijacked our country, using the low-tech rhetorical equivalents of box cutters and mace; then, with most passengers on board and not quite enough of the spirit of United Flight 93 to spare, after a brief Afghan overflight, they crashed the plane of state directly into Iraq, causing the equivalent of a Katrina that never ends and turning that country into the global equivalent of Ground Zero.

Shut up dumbass.

SAN`A, Yemen — Suicide bombers tried to strike two oil facilities in Yemen with explosives-packed cars, but authorities foiled the attacks and four bombers and a security guard were killed, the government said Friday…..They also came days after al-Qaida’s No. 2, Ayman al-Zawahri, issued a videotaped threat of attacks on the Persian Gulf and on facilities he blamed for stealing Muslim oil…..The statement said an investigation was under way to determine the identity of the “terrorist elements” behind the attacks.

Allow me to crawl out on the last limb of the last tree to make the bold call of “Al Qaeda”.

BAGHDAD, Iraq - Police found 30 bodies bearing signs of torture Friday

I wonder if there comes a time where we need to seriously question the civility of a good chunk of the iraqi populace given the amount of torture they manage to perpetrate on each other.
