Nicknames

Synova asks in the previous post's Comments about nicknames in the military.  I've had a few.

In boot camp at a rifle range, I had my steel pot (the days before kevlar, people) - and instead of wearing it properly, I had it cocked to one side of my head.  It took all of about ten seconds before the drill sergeant saw me and yelled out, you could see the vein popping out on his neck as the spit flew, "PFC, who the hell do you think you ARE?! @#$%ing-AY John Wayne?!"

That stuck on me for awhile.

I've had worse ones, and better ones.

My team mates were Cooter (Duks of Hazard look alike), Dancer (he would dance on your head after kicking your @$$), Hammer (wierd anatomy ref - 'nuf said), Johnny Ballgame, 8Ball (tattoo'd anatomy ref), Buddha, MikeMac (Irish), etc.

Here's a post from a few years ago about one of my nicknames and how Buddha got his name...

And a pearl of wisdom from the Buddha: "I can't believe they paid us to blow @#$& up, party at the Officers Club and be Soldiers."

Add your favorite nicknames in the comments.
