Michael Yon in Afghanistan - Must Read

Michael Yon arrived in Afghanistan a little while ago and now has his first dispatch posted - Curious Circumstance. 

Many of you have expressed concern for Mike.  That concern is valid and not misplaced.  Mike, like most Special Forces types that I know, are not suicidal.  Rather, they are a breed of calculated risk takers. 

In a conversation with Mike a few days ago, we were talking about his safety in Afghanistan.  I also expressed concern and basically asked that, if he needed anything ("name it, Mike"), we here at Blackfive could help.  Be sure to help support his dispatches by hitting his tipjar.  Keeping himself equipped with the best cameras, communication and computer gear - not to mention armor (helmet, vest, eye protection), night vision, other equipment, and "safe" travel arrangements - takes a lot of capital.

But on the question of his safety, Mike is a true operator and has got it under control.  No question.  Calculated risk-taker et. al.

But I still pray for him.
