General Disorder- Rumsfeld responsible
Anybody want to venture a guess as to how many retired Generals we have currently? Around 4,700 living and somehow 4,694 have retained their common sense, while six have decided to act foolishly.
Don Rumsfeld is a tremendous lightning rod, and from all accounts can be a seriously demanding boss. The attention paid recently to the calls for his resignation by a half dozen former flag officers is troubling, but more emblematic of the political split in our country rather than Rumsfeld's incompetence. The complaints have focused mainly on the planning and execution of the Iraq war, and I believe mostly about differences of opinion regarding strategy and tactics.
Understand one thing about military planning first. A leader is given a mission, in this case Rummy is told to invade Iraq, and that leader tasks his subordinates to come up with the best plans to do this, note the plural. This is done so the leader has multiple options and sees alternative methods of accomplishing the mission, but in the end a plan is chosen and obviously the others are rejected.
Plus for your viewing pleasure a sneak peek at the redesign demo for my humble home, which will go live soon. I will now be the numbah one online columnist for an online magazine. If nothing else it will be much easier to read and look at visually. The demo is partially clickable to see the look of some parts.
