Morally Bankrupt Cut-And-Run Movement

First, Gay Patriot takes a look at Google's count on who's undermining the war effort in Iraq...

Next, Melissa sends this London Times editorial by Gerard Baker that's a must read about the historical hindsight, media misdirection, and senate sycophants.

PERHAPS THE biggest weapon in the arsenal of America’s critics is carefully selective amnesia. Conveniently forgetting important historical facts enables tactical amnesiacs to make claims about US policy that seem to support their contention that the country’s government is uniquely evil...

And what do the troops think about all of this nonsense?

Stephen Spruiell meets with Marines and reports on their frustrations with the media.  The Marines also get to speak with news producers from NBC and CBS.

...They felt that it's not that the negative stories — like casualty reports — shouldn't be reported, but that we never hear what America is getting for this sacrifice. As one Marine put it, it's like if I spent $7.99 for a slice of pizza and the headlines the next day read, "Marine Out Eight Bucks!"...

I've been hearing the same from my friends.  I have yet to meet one Soldier or Marine back from Iraq that is not frustrated with the media's portrayal of the conduct of the war.

Here's an AP article about Colonel Brown in Iraq who blasts those in Congress and the Senate that are calling for withdrawls before peace is secured in Iraq.

A U.S. field commander in Iraq countered calls by a usually pro-military congressman for withdrawal of Americans fighting there Friday, while Democrats defended Rep. John Murtha (news, bio, voting record) as a patriot even as they declined to back his view.

"Here on the ground, our job is not done," Col. James Brown, commander of the 56th Brigade Combat Team, told reporters at the Pentagon...

And you can read Senator McCain's scathing rebuttal to those who would withdrawl without peace first.  The title of his piece is "Aiding and Abetting"...

...At home, the American people wish to see us succeed in helping bring freedom and democracy to the Iraqi people, but express increased uncertainty among the way forward. Now is the last time we should send a message that withdrawing troops is more important than achieving success.

Unfortunately, the Senate considered two amendments this week — one of which was approved with 79 votes — that did just that. In the version that passed, 2006 is designated as "a period of significant transition to full sovereignty . . . thereby creating the conditions for the phased redeployment of United States forces from Iraq."

These words are likely to be examined closely in Iraq, by both friends and enemies...

Who is this Senator Tom Coburn from Oklahoma?  First, the pork eliminating bill and now this.  I like what I hear from this Doctor.  You people in OK are lucky.  I'm stuck with Durbin and Obama.  Hopefully, DC won't turn him into a sycophant like the rest of those who put their jobs before their duty.

...when you practice that kind of legislation, you're going to get poor results. You can't have a committee run a war, the war...we have to win this war. This is a real war, and what they did is damage the American people today, because together, we can win this war. If we divide ourselves, we'll lose the war, and most Americans don't understand that if we lose this war, it's not like walking home from Vietnam with our head down.  It is we lose our way of life. And they will pick off the Europeans, one at a time, we will not have allies, we will not have the trade, the standard of living that we have today, and we will be vulnerable evermore...

Coburn for President?  Anyone?

Gateway Pundit looks at Congressman Murtha's anti-war stance for the last three YEARS.  For those reading the MSM, it would appear that Murtha had a change of heart.  Not true according to his own words.

But you wouldn't count on the MSM to get it right, would you?  It doesn't fit their template of "quagmire, Bush-lied, the US is evil"...
