If you haven't had a chance to read the transcript of General Honore addressing reporters about Hurricane Rita, you must read the Radio Blogger transcript (and keep reading on down for reactions to Lieutenant General Honore) - there's also an mp3 of the briefing.  The reporters just don't understand that the General needs them to absolutely crystal clear about the evacuation plan.  Or maybe they don't care.

And, speaking of straight-talkers, Smash has broken his silence about the hurricanes and predicts the outcomes of these twin disasters.

...There's no way to sugarcoat this, folks -- this is going to be very, very bad. If you're in the path of the storm, leave while you still can. Property is going to be destroyed, and people who stay behind are going to die.

Beyond the immediate human disaster, these twin monster storms are going to have a big negative impact on the economy...
