The Mad Ghosts Return Home
LtCol Mark Smith's Mad Ghosts (USMC Reserve 2/24th Battalion) returned home to Chicago on Saturday. The town of Rosemont donated the Allstate Arena (most recently host to the NCAA Tournament) to ensure a proper welcome for the Marines. Al L. sent the link to an article about the homecoming:

Posted Sunday, April 10, 2005Hundreds of Marines and sailors passed from military arms to their loved ones’ arms Saturday during a touching welcome-home celebration in Rosemont.
More than 400 members of the 2nd Battalion, 24th Marines marched Saturday into the Allstate Arena to the screaming cheers and “woof-woof” chants of about 4,000 wives, husbands, mothers, fathers, daughters, sons and friends.
After seven months in Iraq’s northern Babil province, the “Mad Ghosts” came home...
