BlackFive, the paratrooper of love, has discovered that he is a Fox Hound. Bad luck mate, we just banned hunting.
Still, I went along to gone2thedogs and played the game to find out what I am.

I am told that I am a Black Russian Terrier, and according to www.dogbreedinfo.com that means that I:
Am prone to Hip Dysplasia. The Black Russian Terrier will do okay in an apartment if it is sufficiently exercised. They love to romp. Male dogs are bigger and more massive than the bitch.

i'm a Great Dane-very cool. i'm also 6'8" and 300lbs. seems to fit, doesn't it?

I'm apparently a Dogue de Bourdeux, which is from the description a good breed, but I'm stuck on the fact that it's from France. How the H*** could I be a FRENCH dog? I demand a recount.

I'm a Irish Red and White Setter. I'm a loyal, trainable (with patience) loveable clown, and sometimes a downright rebellious devil (http://www.irishredandwhitesetterclub.com/)
I think my wife would agree.

I'm a Scottish Deerhound. That's with affectionate, optimistic, possessive, independent, and generous. Unfortunately, I look like I have a bad hair day in the breed picture.

scott, i'm with you - a picardy shephard. loyal, faithful, energetic, affectionate and great with kids. but from france, how oxymoronic is that!!!! i was really shooting for german shephard, or maybe one of those cool bull mastifs but nooooo

Irish Setter (big red) for me. I'm 6'4 and weigh 200, but as an urbanite I have no idea how I'm supposed to be any good at hunting.
Posted by: RPL | February 23, 2005 at 07:11 PM
Ibizan Hound - quiet, clean, playful and polite. Good with children, gentle, sensible and sensitive. Protective and somewhat independent. They will hold back watchfully with strangers. Once they decide the stranger means no harm, they will relax very quickly. Pretty close...

Heh, heh - Welsh Springer Spaniel. . . . .love to "be around a man with a gun". Oh my . . . .
Posted by: Sus | February 23, 2005 at 07:24 PM
I'm a Samoyed. Ironic since it seems to have a thick coat and I'm otherwise saving money at the BX barber shop by shaving my head. In the category of thank God for small favors at least I'm not French. 8>)

Curly coated retriever. I like that!
Posted by: Allan | February 23, 2005 at 07:36 PM
I wonder if anyone ever comes out a pekinese, maltese, pomeranian, or any other number of cute, but irritating dogs.
Posted by: Allan | February 23, 2005 at 07:39 PM
I am a Saluki. Originated in Iran in roughly 3600 BC. Says its an Elegant, if somewhat aloof, breed, that is affectionate and trustworty. But still retains its hunter instincts, so be careful we taking me outdoors!;)

I'm told, I am a Portugese Water Dog and can carry messages from boats to shore and retrieve lost fishing tackle but the real me can't swim. And somehow I always thought of myself as a Basset Hound anyway.

Wow- I'm a Bearded Collie. Alert, self-confident, reliable, good with kids, joyous, affectionate, happy-go-lucky and exuberant, playful and lively.
Oh- and my tail is always wagging. Maybe I should watch that- I'm a married woman, you know.

B5, thanks for the link to this. My family has turned up to be collies and terriers and had great fun in the process.

Some German Muf... something... can be domestic or outdoorsy... well, my ancestors were German... but I can't wait to see what kind of dogs my children are!

Really cool quiz. However, I'm a miniature dachshund. Gee, I have a loud bark for my size, imagine that!
Posted by: TNT | February 24, 2005 at 12:48 AM
I had so much fun!
I'm Basenji – sorry, cannot bark; I can only yodel :-)
“An ancient breed, probably first discovered in Egypt, where some researchers feel they were depicted in hieroglyphics. They appeared next in the Congo basin (now Zaire) in Central Africa. “
“These dogs make excellent hunters as they can outsmart their quarry, extremely loving, dislike wet weather…” – interesting, I DO DISLIKE wet weather!
“In some areas of Zaire a good hunting Basenji is more prized by natives than a wife, as he is the one that helps put food on the table in a desperately poor country where food is at a premium” – hmmm, have to point it to my husband, double-decker for him!
“… has no doggie smell “ – like it even better!

Leonberger.
Never heard of 'em, but I looked the breed up.. ADORABLE!
Too bad I rent, and my flat is too small, and I work 8+hrs a day (when I have a job) :/

Froggy-
Why am I not suprised that you and B5 are the same, dawg? I mean, the same dog.....
LOL!

I found this yesterday morning too (at a diff. site) and it says I am an australian cattle dog. I own one so that is cool.

Matty - Odd. I would've thought you'd have come out as an Irish Boozehound :-D
Posted by: Harvey | February 24, 2005 at 09:22 AM
Weinaraner here.
Quite apt in the canine description. Looks like there's a great deal of variety in the answer pool, I've only seen one repeat out of the commenters here (English foxhound).

I, too, am an English Foxhound.

I'm a Tibetan Terrier, which are considered to be 'holy' by the llamas. Good thing, otherwise I probably would end up as someone's dinner.

Meremma Sheepdog
In addition to sending me out to kill wovles to protect sheep, apparently I need long walks daily, am good with children, protective and often only obey orders that I feel make sense. That's pretty damn close, minus perhaps the long walks. Getting older you know. Of course, I need a gun to kill wolves, but that's because I have thumbs.

Welsh Corgi....
My family is from Wales, I'll give it that much.
Hard working and loyal cattle dogs works as I grew up on a beef farm. Pampered pets of Queen Elizabeth? Short and stubby? I prefer petite and I don't think I am THAT spoiled, thank you.

I am a Plott Hound.
"This well-muscled and rather lean- boned dog has the endurance and stamina to work all day and well into the night. The Plott Hound should have chances to run free but is born a natural hunter and has a tendency to run off and hunt if they are not kept in.."
Heh. Sounds like my Dad's side of the family for sure.

Guess who turned out to be the Pekinese.....Holy @#$%!
Posted by: DD Rees | February 24, 2005 at 02:00 PM
Hungarian Kuvasz
I was not very familiar with the breed, after reading the discription, seems appropriate. Spooky, says I'm prone to hip dysplasia, interesting that my grandfather and father both had hip replacements :-)

Apparently I am a Standard Schnauzer. I demand a recount ...

I am a Novawart (never heard of them before but what a great description of a dog for a family).
Cute game
Posted by: dick | February 24, 2005 at 07:45 PM
Sorry that is Hovamart, not Novamart.
Apparently home territory is Germany. Seems to have a combo of Lab and Shepherd temperament and characteristics. good combo. Just like me (LOL).
Posted by: dick | February 24, 2005 at 09:14 PM
I'm a Rhodesian Ridgeback:
"Attractive animal despite its ferocious reputation. In fact it has a naturally gentle temperament and only moves to speed and violence when its loved ones are under threat."
Yep I think thats pretty close.

Ok so I have to admit I came out as a Pekingese!! I couldn't believe it. There has to be something in that calculation that takes your height into consideration. To the above commenter who wanted to know if anyone came out a Peke - well, here I am. btw - I also have a Maltese as a pet and I can be soooo irritating you have no idea.
Posted by: Toni | February 25, 2005 at 01:30 PM
I'm another English Foxhound. We might have enough here to do a hunt. My wife thinks I'm more like a Rottweiler though.
Posted by: michael dennis | February 25, 2005 at 07:43 PM
Like Jesse, I'm a Portuguese Water Dog, even though I'm not much of a swimmer (proof: during the years I lived in Hawaii, I never bothered to learn how to surf!!!). However, I do have the characteristics of a Dachshund (built close to the ground) and pit bull (highly persistent when I sink my teeth into something).
Posted by: Bloodthirsty Warmonger | February 27, 2005 at 11:47 AM
Oops, my eyes are out of alignment - it's Cathy who's the other example of the same breed. On top of that I'm quite a worrier - I should have more wrinkles than a Shar-Pei.
Posted by: Bloodthirsty Warmonger | February 27, 2005 at 11:50 AM
Rats. I'm a French poodle. Miniature.
...Nawwww, just kidding. I'm an English Foxhound like Blackfive!
Posted by: Jason Van Steenwyk | February 27, 2005 at 11:19 PM
I turned out to be a Novawart. Never heard of that breed but it's German and so is my ancestory. Let's see a German pronunciation of that... The v is pronounced like f and the w like v... made me think of the drug company Novartis... Do they make an anti gas product?
